About SIMC

The “7th Strathmore International Mathematics Conference (SIMC 2023) will be held in Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya, during the week of July 10 – July 14, 2023.  The conference will be organized in plenary and parallel sessions of oral presentations. The Conference paper presentation sessions will be preceded by a number of 2-day schools (12th -14th July 2023) on broad research topics of contemporary interest and relevance.

Theme: “Promoting research collaboration in mathematical sciences to address emerging challenges in health, agriculture, climate change and big data.

Conference Objectives:

  1. To provide a forum for researchers, educators, students, contributors, users of mathematical knowledge and industries to exchange ideas and communicate and discuss research findings and new advancement in mathematical sciences.
  2. To explore possible avenues to foster academic and student exchange, as well as scientific activities;
  3. Identifying future needs and opportunities for mathematical sciences in industry and promote stronger links between mathematics and industry for a mutually beneficial partnership between industry and mathematical scientists.

Conference Format

The conference will be organized in plenary and parallel sessions of oral presentations. The Conference paper presentation sessions will be preceded by a number of 2-day schools (12th -14th July 2023) on broad research topics of contemporary interest and relevance.

Pre-Conference Schools

The Conference paper presentation sessions shall be preceded by a number of 2-day schools on broad research topics of contemporary interest and relevance, chosen from the following research areas: Health, Agriculture, Climate change, Big data. The aim of these schools is to nurture research careers of young mathematicians and to sow the seed for future generation of mathematics researchers in East African region.

Conference Plenary and Parallel Sessions

The plenary sessions will include keynote papers and invited papers on topics of broad interest and appeal, aligned to the conference theme, by distinguished researchers in the respective fields. The parallel sessions will include invited and contributed papers in each of the respective areas of focus. The parallel sessions will be in the following areas: Health, Agriculture, Climate change, Big data.
